Festive endeavours raised over £130k for Hospice

People dug deep at a number of events over the Christmas period

Over £130,000 was raised through fundraising activities for the Katharine House Hospice over the Christmas period, helping support end-of-life care for adults with incurable illnesses.

The hospice team have thanked the local community for their support.

Throughout December, individuals, schools, businesses and volunteers took part in a range of events.   These included the Schools Santa Run which generated over £15,000 and the Christmas Tree-cycle scheme with over £11,000 raised.

The largest amount of money – over £100,000 – came in from the Banbury Christmas Tractor Run and donation were also received at collections and gift-wrapping sessions.

Roseann Thompson, Community Engagement Manager at Katharine House Hospice said: “We are incredibly grateful to our community for the amazing support shown during our Christmas fundraising events. Every year, we are overwhelmed by the ways local people and businesses come together to support us through donations, sponsorship, volunteering their time and participating in our festive events.

“It costs over £5.9 million a year to run every element of Katharine House Hospice, so we rely on the generosity of our local community to help us continue delivering vital specialist palliative care for local adults living with an incurable illness.”
