Voting underway in 2026 Local Elections

07/05/2026

The polls close at 10pm tonight

Voting is underway in the Local Elections.

18 seats at Cherwell District Council are being contested.

In two wards the mid-term resignation of a councillor means that two people will be elected.  The candidate with the most votes will serve a full 4-year term whilst the person receiving the second highest number of votes will serve the remainder of the term of the councillor who resigned – 1 year in both cases.

A full list of candidates is available here.

Parish Council elections were due to take place in a number of locations across the Cherwell District, although none of these are contested as in each case there were fewer candidates than seats available

Polling stations are open until 10 this evening.   Voters will need to take photo ID with them.

The results will be announced during the day tomorrow and we will have updates on-air and here.
