Its an extra incentive to take time to notice nature all around
We’re being encouraged to reconnect with nature this June as Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust (BBOWT) launches its annual 30 Days Wild campaign.
The month-long initiative invites us to take part in simple outdoor activities designed to help people experience wildlife through all five senses, from listening to birdsong and spotting colourful species to growing wildlife-friendly plants and exploring local green spaces.
More than three million people have taken part in 30 Days Wild since it launched over a decade ago. This year’s challenge includes new wildlife-themed trading cards for families, along with activity ideas focused on creativity, learning about nature and helping local habitats.
Liz Shearer, Community Engagement Director at BBOWT, says: “The 30 Days Wild challenge is one of the highlights of my year. It gives me an extra incentive to take a few minutes a day to simply notice all the nature around me, whether that’s listening to birds singing, looking out for flowers blooming or watching a bumblebee buzzing around. I would encourage everyone to join in and discover the joys of making time to get closer to nature this June.”
The campaign runs throughout June and encourages people to take part in whatever way suits them best, whether at home, in gardens or out in the countryside.
