A Banbury club has donated £10,000 to Dogs for Good following a generous legacy left by one of its long-serving members.

The Rotary Club of Banbury received a £20,000 bequest from the late Helen Morris and, after careful consideration, decided to split the funds between two charities.   Dogs for Good was selected as one of the beneficiaries in recognition of its work supporting people facing a wide range of challenges, including autism, dementia and physical disabilities.

The donation was presented by Rotary Club President Nigel Randall, accompanied by Alan Wolstencroft, to Dogs for Good chief executive Ed Bracher during the charity’s open day.

The £10,000 gift will help fund the training of a new assistance dog.  Visitors to the event learned more about the charity’s work through demonstrations showing how assistance dogs can help with everyday tasks, from fetching items and opening doors to supporting wheelchair users.

The Rotary Club said Helen’s legacy would make a lasting difference to the lives of those supported by the charity.
