Eddie Reeves has comfortably held Deddington for the Conservatives.
Overall the Conservatives LOST 6 seats, the Liberal Democrats gained 4, Labour 1 and the Greens 1. The Conservatives now control Cherwell by just two seats.

In Kidlington East Fiona Mawson has won for the Green Party. With 1,322 votes she beat the Conservative candidate by more than 250.

Liberal Democrat County Councillor Tim Beader says today’s local election results show the Conservatives are out of touch. He points to people’s keenness to stop building on green spaces as one reason for today’s results.

The Liberal Democrats have held Kidlington West.

Phil Chapman holds Cropredy, Sibfords and Wroxton for the Conservatives.

Council Leader Barry Wood has been re-elected.

Two seats at Launton and Otmoor that had been Conservative (although one was vacant at the election) have both gone to the Liberal Democrats.

The Conservatives have lost Bicester South and Ambrosden to the Liberal Democrats. Chris Pruden won with a 750 majority.

Independent councillor John Broad has held Bicester West and the Conservatives have held Banbury Calthorpe and Easington.

The Liberal Democrats have taken Adderbury, Bodicote and Bloxham from the Conservatives. Victorious David Hingley from Bodicote said: “The Lib Dems are back” as he won by 899 votes. Andrew McHugh stood down in the ward at this election and Conservative stalwart Tony Mepham had hoped to keep the Tories in control there.
Meanwhile Nick Mawer has held Bicester North and Caversfield for the Conservatives.

County Councillor Donna Ford, as a new Tory candidate for Bicester East, comfortably re-wins for the Conservatives.

Rebecca Crompton-Biegel has held Banbury Grimsbury for Labour. She had a majority of 600 and more than double the Conservative vote.

Cherwell’s finance councillor Tony Ilott has lost his seat on the Council. He has lost the Banbury Hardwick seat to Labour’s Andrew Crichton, 798 votes to 717. Tony has been a leading member of Cherwell’s executive and is also a county councillor.
Meanwhile Labour have held Banbury Ruscote.

Local Democracy Reporter Andy Mitchell is at the count. he says: “[The] feeling from the room, it could get tight for the Conservatives but they should keep a majority, just… They have 30 seats, there is one vacancy that was Tory, and they need 25 (out of 48) to keep a majority. More on that in a minute. Lib Dems confident of taking four, Labour very close on another, Greens very close on another.”

The ballot boxes from yesterday’s vote were brought to Spiceball Leisure Centre. They were validated this morning with counting beginning after lunch.
