120 children set to sing at St Mary’s as part of the bicentennial arts festival

Tudor Hall School and Banbury Rotary Club are behind tonight’s event involving six local schools
Around 120 primary school children will come together for a Festival of Voices at St Mary’s Church in Banbury this evening. The concert is part of the church’s bicentennial arts festival celebrations.
The idea came from Tudor Hall School who wanted to support the festival. Tudor Hall Director of Music, Lindsey Lea-James contacted a number of local primary schools asking them if they would like to join in.
Taking to the stage this evening will be youngsters from the Carrdus School, Heyford Park, Bishop Loveday, Christopher Rawlins and Hanwell Fields, alongside Tudor Hall. Each school will perform the numbers they have been preparing and will then come together for the finale, which will include the song World In Union, which became widely known after being performed by Kiri Te Kanawa at the 1991 Rugby World cup final.
Members of Banbury Rotary Club are overseeing tonight’s event, which follows in the footsteps of their popular Children Singing for Children autumn concerts.
Tickets are £5 each and a few will be available on sale at the door, subject to availability. The concert starts at 7pm and proceeds from the evening will go towards the upkeep of St Mary’s.

After years of covid disruption to once again hear 200+ children singing their hearts out with such enthusiasm was like a beam of sunshine breaking through the cloud! Tudor Hall and Banbury Rotary Club organised the event but the main vote of thanks goes to all the teachers, support staff and the children and their parents/guardians: they are the ones who really allowed it to happen.
