Investigations continue after two stolen items were located

A drone has been used to help police as they attempted to track down stolen machinery.

In a joint operation between the National Vehicle Crime Intelligence Service, Northants Police and Thames Valley Police, a warrant was executed at a quarry near Finmere following concerns about stolen items being stored there.

A thorough assessment of all the plant and machinery on the site was completed, during which two pieces of stolen equipment were found.

The drone was utilised to help officers check one item of equipment, saving them from paddling across the bottom of the quarry.

During the search two items were found to be stolen: a trailer and pressure washer had both been taken from Rugby.   These were recovered.

The Taskforce had previously seized an item of plant worth £200,000 from the same site using a drone on May 6 this year.

Investigations are ongoing.
