Victoria Prentis appeared on ITV’s Peston programme after the Sue Gray report had been released
Banbury’s MP believes Prime Minister Boris Johnson will still be leading the Conservatives at the next election.
Following the release of Sue Gray’s report into the parties held in Downing Street during the period of lockdown, Victoria Prentis appeared on ITV’s Peston programme on Wednesday evening to defend the way Boris Johnson had handled the situation.
Mrs Prentis was satisfied that changes had been made in response to the crisis. She said: “Sue Gray’s interim report made it quite clear that there were some very problematic things going on in Downing Street and she made some recommendations which were instantly acted upon and action was taken.”
When asked if Boris Johnson would lead the Conservatives into the next election Mrs Prentis said: “Yes I think he will.
“Today is clearly not a great day. He has said that he is shocked and appalled by what was going on in Downing Street.
“He has apologised for it and we’ve got be able to concentrate and tackle the job in hand.”
