Santas on the run for Katharine House
01/12/2019
Happy Santa’s have fun running for Katharine House
Over 400 Santa’s put their best foot forward raising money for the Katharine House Hospice at the annual Santa Fun Run on Sunday (December 1). Runners of all ages donned Santa suits and beards and set off from the Wykham Park Academy with around half completing a 5km route and the rest attempting a 1.5km course.
Chris Higgins, Marketing and Communications Manager for the Katharine House Hospice, told Banbury FM, “It’s a fantastic fun day out for all the family. We do get some people who like to come and get their personal best … but more than anything it’s about the families and the children, really having fun and kicking off the Christmas festive period”.
The weather was cold, but sunny for the event, which started with a warm-up routine for all 400 Santas. The runners then started out in two groups with lots of smiling faces passing the start line.
It is hoped the Santa Fun Run will raise around £25,000 for the Hospice, which is the amount needed to fund the inpatient unit for five days over Christmas. This year the Hospice is facing a budget deficit of £435,000.
Chris Higgins added, “We are so grateful to all 400 people coming out today“.
