Banbury Market Cancelled Due to Weekend Weather
14/02/2020
Predictions of Strong Winds and Rain Put Pay to Saturday Market
Banbury’s Saturday market has fallen victim to this weekend’s predicted bad weather. The market organisers have decided the conditions are set to be too bad for the market to run.
The Banbury Royal Charter Market normally runs every Thursday and Saturday in the Market Place, but the impending arrival of Storm Dennis has led the organisers to decide to cancel the market due to take place tomorrow.
In a statement issued this morning (Friday) they said, “Unfortunately the forecast for this weekend is pretty dreadful and therefore we have had to make the decision to cancel Banbury Market tomorrow.
“Hopefully the weather improves next week and we’ll be back as normal on Thursday”.
Storm Dennis is predicted to bring heavy rain and strong winds to North Oxfordshire throughout Saturday and into Sunday. During Saturday afternoon and evening wind gusts of up to 50 miles-per-hour are expected.
It was only last weekend that Storm Ciara caused problems locally with roads blocked by fallen trees and The Grange School narrowly escaping damage when a tree was brought down in their grounds.
