Fast food is back – join the McQueue
02/06/2020
People queue at Banbury’s two McDonald’s restaurants as they open for drive thru customers
The ten week wait for access to Big Macs and McChicken Sandwiches in North Oxfordshire is over. This lunchtime fans of McDonald’s joined the queues for access to their favourite fast food.
Both Banbury restaurants, on the Beaumont Road and also at Banbury Gateway, opened this morning, but strictly for drive-thru customers only.
At the Beaumont Road site cars queued along Beaumont Road itself, waiting for their turn to have access to the ordering lanes. McDonald’s provided a traffic marshal to supervise waiting cars. Staff, wearing protective face masks, introduced the reduced menu which is currently available.
Across the country 190 McDonald’s restaurants opened for drive-thru and delivery today. As well as a reduced menu the restaurants are running reduced opening hours between 11am and 10pm. Customers are asked to pay use contactless methods and all orders are limited to a maximum spend of £25.
Inside the restaurants McDonalds say they will have fewer people working on each shift, and we will be introducing measures such as additional screens in the kitchens and service areas to provide a safer environment and to help with social distancing.
