Banbury United manager says the previous two years have been unbelievable

Banbury United’s Manager Andy Whing has signed a new revised deal keeping him at the club until the end of the 2023-24 season.   The new arrangement comes in the wake of the Puritans gaining promotion to the National League North at the end of a stellar season which saw them named Southern League Premiere Division Central champions.

Banbury accumulated 102 points during the season, 23 points clear of the team in second place.

Mr Whing signed a two-season contract in March 2021.   The new revised deal will see him manage the team through the forthcoming season and the 2023-24 period.

Banbury United Chairman Ronnie Johnson said: “The club has enjoyed an amazing two seasons under Andy’s management and we are really pleased to be able to reward him with a new improved deal. We are delighted he will lead the team as we face the exciting new challenges of Step Two football.”

Mr Whing added: “I’m absolutely delighted.   The previous two years have been unbelievable, from when I first joined and what we’ve done in the last two years has been fantastic.

“It’s a really exciting time for the football club, moving in to the national league set up for the first time in the club’s history and I’m really proud to be a part of it.”

National League fixtures for the forthcoming season will be published on Wednesday July 6.   The Puritans already have a number of pre-season friendlies lined up including the annual Ron Thomas fixture against Easington Sports this weekend and taking on Oxford United on Saturday July 9.
