Plan for weekend as 400,000 Formula 1 fans head this way
29/06/2022
The British Grand Prix at Silverstone will result in a Travel Plan being implemented
Ahead of the arrival of an anticipated 400,000 people for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend we’re being advised to prepare for some changes due to the Travel Plan that will be in place.
The event runs from tomorrow (Thursday) until Sunday and organisers say that both Saturday and race day on Sunday have already sold out.
A one-way system will be introduced on sections of the A43 between the M40 at junction 10 and M1 at junction 15a. Traffic officers will be patrolling the area to deal with any incidents.
During the weekend the A43 will be closed to through traffic at Silverstone and a one-way system put in place to allow racegoers to enter the circuit in the morning between 7am and 1pm. The one-way system will be reversed to allow people to leave in the afternoon between 1pm and 8pm.
For West Northamptonshire residents there won’t be any disruption to bin collections due to the Grand Prix, but they are asked to make sure their bins are out for 7am as collection crews may arrive at different to normal.
