Concorde Avenue closure causes long Southam Road queues
21/07/2020
Diverted traffic clogging up southbound route from Tesco roundabout to Warwick Road junction
Banbury traffic is struggling this week as roadworks cause long queues for diverted vehicles on the Southam Road. Yesterday southbound traffic crawled for most of the day between the Tesco roundabout and the Warwick Road junction.
The holdups are caused by the planned closure of Concorde Avenue between the Spiceball Park Sports Centre Roundabout and Hennef Way. Traffic heading towards town from the M40, A422 and A361 is all being diverted across to the Southam Road rather than using the inner relief road for access to the southern side of town and industrial areas such as the Tramway estate.
As we previously reported the closure of Concorde Avenue is the second phase of the utility works installation for the Castle Quay II project. The closure will be in place until Sunday.
