Bloxham Village History Club present a talk by Sir Tony entitled “Prime Ministers that I have known”.
Si Tony was MP for Banbury from 1983 to 2015 and a Minister in Margaret Thatcher’s and John Major’s Governments.
His political roles also include being a Select Committee Chair and a Church Estates Commissioner. His political life encompasses, for example, the 1975 EEC Referendum, time in Mrs Thatcher’s private office, privatisation of the electricity industry, looking after Britain’s relations with large parts of the world at the Foreign Office, local government and housing policy, BSE and EU fisheries disputes. He has had personal dealings with Prime Ministers from Harold Macmillan to Boris Johnson.
The 30 minute talk will be followed by a Q&A and include stories, insights and judgments that you won’t want to miss!
Refreshments will be provided from 7.15pm.
