Sat 10.00am
The train line between Bicester North and Banbury is now back open after flood water receded.
Fri 12.00pm
In Brackley a flood alert has been issued for the River Ouse. The areas most at risk are Mill Lane, Buckingham Road, Boundary Road, Willow Road and Shires Road.
Mill Road in Whitfield and Turweston Mill are also likely to be affected.
River levels on the River Cherwell in Banbury, although high, are stable, but flooding of low lying land and roads is expected.
Spiceball Park remains underwater and the Spiceball Park North car park – Waterworks car park (opposite Banbury Sailing Club) is closed.

On the trains the line is blocked between Bicester North and Banbury due to flooding. Train services may be cancelled, delayed or diverted. Chiltern Railways tickets are being accepted by Cross Country (services run between Banbury and Reading), Avanti, Great Western (operating between Banbury, Oxford, Reading and London Paddington stations) and West Midlands Trains.

The organisers of Banbury Parkrun have cancelled the run scheduled for this Saturday. They say there is too much standing water on the course in Spiceball Park and with more rain forecast over the next 48 hours parts of it will inevitably become impassable.
Saturday had been planned as a Banbury Parkrun 10th birthday celebration.

A flooding red alert for the River Cherwell has been removed, but flooding is still possible on low lying land and roads close to the river, especially in Banbury and Kings Sutton.
On the trains flooding on the line between Banbury and Bicester North means trains are being diverted or cancelled.

Schools: Warriner is back open today after being closed yesterday. At BGN school is starting at 11.30am to allow time for staff and students to get there safely.
The Environment Agency has issued a red flood alert for the Sor Brook at Bodicote and Adderbury and The Bloxham Brook with property flooding likely in low lying places closest to these rivers.
A red alert is also in force for the River Cherwell with property flooding expected on low lying land and roads is close to the river, especially in Banbury and Kings Sutton.
Look out for roads likely to be affected by standing water including:
- Lower Cherwell Street in Banbury
- The A4260 by the rugby club, just north of Adderbury and between Adderbury and Deddington
- The Williamscott Road in Cropredy
- The Overthorpe Road north of Kings Sutton between the new bridge and Middleton Cheney turning
- Rose Hall Lane in Middleton Cheney
On the trains flooding on the line between Banbury and Bicester North means trains have to run at a reduced speed.
Mon 9.00pm
Network Rail say that flooding between Banbury and Bicester North means that the line towards London is currently closed. Trains running between these stations may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 90 minutes, revised or diverted.

After a day of constant rain parts of Banbury are struggling with localised flooding. Traffic is navigating its way around water on Lower Cherwell Street in town and also on the A4260 by the Rugby Club and just outside Adderbury.
Buses are unable to use the bus station, which is under water.
The level of the River Cherwell has risen, but hasn’t yet broken its banks.

Banbury’s MP’s Sean Woodcock has written to Thames Water’s Chief Executive expressing local people’s concerns about blocked drains and flooding in the area.

We’ve just been told that The Frank Wise School is closed due to flooding.

On the roads we have reports of lots of surface water causing slow traffic on the A361 approaching the M40 at Banbury and very heavy traffic on the A4260 between Adderbury and Deddington.

The earlier issues on the southbound M40 between junctions 10 and 9 have now been cleared but delays on the motorway remain.
The MetOffice are now forecasting the heavy rain will be with us all day.

The Warriner School in Bloxham is closed today due to excessive flooding and the drains are starting to back up on site. All teaching will be virtual.
On the southbound M40 between J10 and J9 the carriageway is blocked due to a collision. There is 6 miles of congestion on the approach – 30 minute delays above normal.

The MetOffice is forecasting rain all night and only easing off by Monday afternoon. They have issued an AMBER weather warning from rain which is in force from 5am to 9pm on Monday.
The MetOffice says that an Amber Weather Warning for rain means
- Spray and flooding probably leading to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- Homes and businesses may be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
- Delays and some cancellations to train and bus services are likely
- A possibility that some communities will be cut off by flooded roads
- Power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses likely

People have been repoprting localised flooding in Banbury after heavy rain during late Sunday afternoon, with local sewers unable to cope with the volume of water. Here’s some of the updates we’ve received.
- Louise Truss: Bad flooding on the Milton Road from Bloxham to Adderbury and Bloxham Road. There’s also a big puddle after one of the speed bumps down by the Ruscote shop, which was unexpected on my way towards Musketeer pub
- Amanda Swepson: Bad flooding as you enter Broughton from Banbury
- Olly Cousins: Bus station flooded and manhole covers bubbling
- Kevin Behan: The road behind The Range, at the traffic lights is under 4-6 inches of water.
- Sabrina Sells: Grange road flooded
