Local News Review of 2024
01/01/2025
The big stories affecting our area in 2024
Throughout 2024 the Banbury FM news team reported on the big local stories that affected Banbury, Brackley and the surrounding villages. No other broadcaster offered this level of coverage.
Our on-air bulletins and website articles brought Banbury FM’s listeners the local news first, with many exclusive stories hours – even days – ahead of anyone else.
From the flooding which led to the Mill Auditorium being closed for nine months to Labour stealing the former Conservative stronghold of Banbury at the General Election. There was the arrival – and departure – of Kevin Wilson at Banbury United, the implementation of 20 mile-per-hour speed limits, the Bridge Street pigeon getting a makeover, the lost battle to protect the gap between Banbury and Hanwell and a local school annoucning its closure due to government policies.
At the end of the year, month by month, we looked back at the stories that had shaped our area in 2024.
