Avid runner Ben grew up in Faringdon, going to the local Senior School, and ending up as Head Boy during his Sixth Form days! He combined University in Cheltenham with helping out at a local radio in Oxford where he presented a variety of programmes and utilised his love of sport providing match reports from Oxford United fixtures.
A move into full-time radio followed with Ben taking the helm of a Breakfast show in Stroud and then a day time show in Cheltenham. In 2006 a chance to move to West Wales presented itself, initially hosting mornings on Radio Carmarthenshire, he quickly progressed to host a market leading breakfast show in Pembrokeshire. From here Ben moved to present a hugely popular breakfast show on a station in West Berkshire, where he worked alongside fellow Banbury FM presenters Andy Green and Ian Downs.
A move back to Pembrokeshire in 2009 followed and took Ben into radio station management. Alongside waking the county up every morning, he won aa National Radio Award for his local sport programme with retired school teacher Bill Carne – you’ve guessed it, they called it the “Friday Night Sport Show with Bill and Ben!”.
After that Ben worked in politics as an Office Manager for a Gloucestershire MP for over seven years and has spent the last four working for an broadband business that specialise in working in rural communities.
Having been part of the Banbury FM team during the station’s trial broadcasts in 2002 he jumped at the chance to return to the station in 2021.
Ben is married to Becci and is a keen supporter of local park runs, like the one at Spiceball Park. He has completed 10ks, half and full marathons and is a big a fan of exploring new places both in the UK and abroad, and eating nice food! He really enjoys working with and helping local communities come together through truly local radio stations like Banbury FM.
