Up to £20,000 is being offered for vital information which will help solve a brutal murder which happened in Banbury 20 years ago.

29 year old Kevin Lavelle was fatally attacked on June 24, 2004 at the Cricketers Pub in Grimsbury, where he was staying.    He had become involved in an argument with several men from Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taff, South Wales.

The father-of-two, who was originally from Bootle in Merseyside, suffered injuries after being hit repeatedly with a dumbbell.   He was due to get married the following year.

Kevin was attacked on the night that England played Portugal in the UEFA Euros.

The charity Crimestoppers is offering the reward to anyone who can anonymously give them information which helps solve the murder.

Mick Duthie, Director of Operations at Crimestoppers, said: “We are offering up to £20,000 as we hope someone knows who was responsible for this senseless and vicious attack. This murder left a devastating and lasting impact on his loved ones.

“Our charity is hoping that with the passage of time, allegiances and friendships might have changed. People have the option to stay completely anonymous when contacting us with their information.

“If you prefer not to speak directly to the police or to give your personal details, remember our charity’s unique service, which guarantees your complete anonymity.

“Crimestoppers has been taking crime information since our charity began over 35 years ago. Every day over 2,000 people contact us online and over the phone. The information we receive makes a huge difference in keeping communities safe. Together, we can help bring justice after all these years for Kevin and his family.”

The reward is available until September 25 this year and only available for information given exclusively to Crimestoppers.
