Donation made by Lions to help with funding during cornavirus
Banbury Lions Club has donated £750 to the Katharine House Hospice to help with funding during the coronavirus crisis.
The Banbury club received a share of a special £100,000 fund launched by the Lions Clubs Foundation of the British Isles to support local communities during the COVID-19 crisis.
Banbury Lions’ president Graham Raven said: “Our £750 share is a significant sum of money that we are putting to good use straightaway. The coronavirus pandemic is hurting local people in lots of different ways.
“We are dedicated and long-time supporters of Katharine House Hospice having raised thousands of pounds over many years. At this critical time the hospice is working tirelessly under very difficult circumstances to combat Covoid-19 and we are pleased to help in this way.”
The Katharine House Hospice last year announced they faced a £435,000 funding deficit; this year’s coronavirus pandemic has added to their problems with many planned fund-raising events either postponed or cancelled. Donations can be made to the Hospice here.
