Circle Of Kindness links donors, charities and local businesses
31/05/2020
Scheme supports local charities and local businesses in the perfect circle of kindness
A scheme which supports local charities, whilst helping local businesses has been launched in North Oxfordshire. The Banbury Circle of Kindness takes the generosity of financial donors and uses it to provide vital supplies and support to local charities by sourcing those supplies and support from local businesses who have been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic.
The idea was created by the community interest company Visit Banbury who wanted to connect financial donors who may not have been financially impacted by the Covid-19 crisis with local charities in need of help. However, rather than simply making a direct financial donation to the charity their idea is that products or services are bought from hard hit Banbury companies for the charity by the donor.
Visit Banbury have partnered with Banbury BID and their ShopAppy platform to make the link to local businesses and the easiest method of purchasing from them.
Donors are asked to make a minimum donation of £100. Visit Banbury brings together a group of them, identifies a local organisation which needs something and with the support of Banbury BID identifies local businesses who have products which can be included.
Kirsty Leahy, Director of Visit Banbury said, “We know many amazing organisations are doing incredible work right on the front line and we cannot dream to emulate that, but we can do what we always have and that is connect various groups, support local community-based organisations and businesses and work with partners like Banbury BID to help spread some kindness”.
Jo Holland, Banbury BID Manager said “We have been struck by so many stories of businesses who were forced to close and have not been able, for a variety of reasons, to continue to trade in alternative ways. This could be a vital lifeline to some businesses, who can generate much needed cash flow from selling their bulk stock, and at the same time being able to help others is a wonderful idea. The BID is proud to be able to support the Banbury Circle of Kindness.”
