Community Fridge has surplus supplies available on Thursday afternoon
27/08/2020
Volunteers will be on hand to give out chocolate, coffee, crisps, Easter eggs and other items
Chocolate, coffee and crisps are amongst the items Banbury Community Fridge will be handing out this afternoon (Thursday 27th September). The community scheme has received a large donation of surplus items that would otherwise go to landfill.
Banbury Community Fridge is based in the car park of the Banbury Madni Mosque on Merton Street in Grimsbury. The project takes food items that are no longer required by supermarkets and other shops and gives them to local people so waste is avoided.
Between 3 and 5pm Community Fridge volunteers will be on hand to give out chocolate, coffee, crisps, Easter eggs and a number of other items.
Anyone can pop down between these times, but organisers are reminding people that social distancing rules will apply and items will be rationed so everyone is able to get a little.
Banbury Community Fridge is currently undertaking a crowd funding exercise to raise money to purchase security cameras and shutters for their fridges and freezers. The appeal was launched over the weekend and has so far raised around £400 towards the £2,500 target. Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so here.
