Banbury beat Chinnor in the first Community Group Cup, but can they outwalk and outrun them this weekend?
Banbury Rugby Club are this weekend re-challenging Chinnor Rugby Club for another Lockdown Challenge. The distance challenge first took place last November to encourage club members to keep active safely during the pandemic.
Lockdown Challenge 2 will see both clubs trying to accumulate the most miles by walking or running during the 48-hour period starting at midnight on Saturday morning, running until 11.59pm on Sunday evening.
The first challenge in the autumn was introduced in an attempt to provide a weekend of activity for club members after long periods without any rugby. Both clubs came together to create a challenge that could operate safely during the pandemic.
Nearly 700 people of all ages and abilities took part. Banbury Rugby Club managed to achieve to total distance of 3,548 miles, beating Chinnor’s 2959 miles, giving the club the first ever Community Group Cup.
To join in players and supporters alike simply need to download the free Strava App on their smartphone and create an account. After that they search for “Banbury RFC” and join all their other teammates.
