Glebefields Care Home feeling safer after staff and residents received Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine at the weekend
“What a relief we are getting it. Let’s get back to some normality.” That was the first comment a resident at Glebefields Care Home made after hearing they would be receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
Staff and residents at the care home in Drayton all received their vaccinations last Saturday (January 16). Healthcare professionals from Hightown Surgery visited and administered the jabs over the lunchtime period. All staff and residents were vaccinated with the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine within 90 minutes.
Nisha Shaji, General Manager, told Banbury FM: “Now we are all vaccinated they are feeling safe and know at some point things will come back to normal”.
The home has recently installed a visiting pod which means residents can finally look forward to visits once again. Nisha said: “Christmas was difficult for them. Loads of presents arrived but they had to wait three or four days because they were in quarantine.
Nisha said: “There are frequent changes every day with regards to guidelines. It was difficult but we tried our best as a team to keep them as entertained as possible.”
19 residents and 46 staff all received their jabs at the weekend.
Nisha added: “I would like to thank Dr Cornwall and team for facilitating the vaccinations for us”.
