6,409 children gain admission to their parents first choice primary education
Just over nine out of ten youngsters starting primary education this coming September in Oxfordshire will be heading to their parent’s first choice school.
Figures out today reveal that 6,409 of the applications received by the County Council were successful in gaining a place at the main choice of schooling – that’s 93.09%. This is a slight improvement on last year’s local figure in Oxfordshire – 90.60%.
Just 78 children out of 6,806 weren’t able to be accommodated in any of the four choices their parents listed on their application.
Kevin Gordon, Oxfordshire County Council’s Director of Children Services, said: “Our school admissions team has done an excellent job in ensuring that so many parents and children have been offered their first choice. I am grateful to the team for all its hard work. Our aim as a council is to give every child a good start in life and our school admissions team play an essential part in that year in, year out.”
