Traffic delays likely with roadworks starting
26/04/2021
Work set to begin today on the Oxford Road and Broughton Road
Drivers could find their journeys delayed this week as two sets of roadworks begin locally. Both the Oxford Road from Banbury to Adderbury and the Broughton Road in town are affected.
Today, the main A4260 Oxford Road between Twyford and Sainsburys is due to be closed between 9.30am and 3.30pm. Oxfordshire County Council plans to install ‘surface dressing’ – a treatment utilised to protect and prolong the existing structural integrity of the carriageway to prevent the need for more costly and disruptive repairs.
The work has a three day window for completion, although it is weather dependant.
Major traffic will be diverted to use the A361 through Bloxham.
Meanwhile, a stretch of the Broughton Road is due to be closed for up to two weeks from today. The section between Queensway and the college will be affected with the diversion route utilising the Bloxham Road and South Bar to the Cross.
