Banbury Bowl excited to be back open and ready for the summer
Today marks the next step in the lifting of restrictions with a number of venues allowed to reopen. Amongst them Banbury Bowl will be welcoming back customers.
The venue, based above The Range on the corner of Cherwell Street and George Street, has been closed since December. Despite the financial challenges the company has managed to retain all their staff.
Pete Terry, Managing Director of the company, said: “We as a company have loved being in Banbury despite the centre being closed by lockdown just 4 months after we opened!
“The first lockdown saw us closed for 5 months, and this time the centre hasn’t traded since December. That’s 11 months of closure with all the bills still to pay.
“We are however delighted that we have been able to retain all our staff and now we look forward to a great summer of fun and bowling.”
Banbury Bowl was refurbished in November 2019 featuring intelligent multicoloured lane lighting, shabby chic bar, DJ hosts, Namco arcade, pizza menu and drinks offers. Prior to being taken over the venue had closed in February 2019 after the collapse of the previous owners.
Mr Terry added: “We are looking forward to building a great business and being a part of the local community as well as a family entertainment centre.
“We can’t wait to welcome back our diverse range of customers, from kids using our elephant ball ramps, teenagers, students and adults, bowling really is great fun for everyone.
“We invested £300k in this venue and I know it will be worth the wait to get it open and trading again.”
Banbury Bowl is fully air conditioned and in preparation for the summer is stocking Walls Ice Cream, Slush and Milkshakes.
Kieran Graham, Banbury Bowl’s General Manager, said: “The team and I can’t wait to get the doors open again and provide some safe family fun to all our customers.
“Our new focus is lane service this will mean people can enjoy bowling and have everything brought to them with just a few clicks of our app, which you can download from App Store or Google Play.
“We have recruited a further 5 members of staff before opening in order to make sure we can look after all our customers.”
