Club confirms more names for the first team during the 2021-22 season
Banbury United have confirmed more details of who will, and who won’t be returning to the first team squad for the 2021-22 season.
Amongst the departures is former club captain Ricky Johnson who made a total of 278 appearances for the Puritans and scored 97 goals during his three spells at the Banbury Plant Hire Community Stadium.
Banbury United Manager Andy Whing said: “Ricky has been fantastic for this football club. He was a great help to me when I first joined and a real leader on and off the pitch. I wish him all the best for the future.”
Puritans’ Chairman Phil Lines said: “Ricky has been a great leader for the club scoring key goals and also when the backs were against the wall putting his body on the line. He will go down in time as one of the club legends. Everyone at the club wishes him the best for the future.”
Others confirmed as leaving include Pablo Haysham, Alex Henshall and Jaanai Gordon.
Those due to re-sign this year include Charlie Hawtin, Sam Brown, Jack Westbrook, Jack Finch and Amer Awadh. They will join Kelvin Langmead, Connor Roberts, Giorgio Rasulo, Henry Landers and Jack Harding who have already signed contracts for next season.
Andy Whing said: “It is great to have a strong core of last year’s team together for next season, I am now focussing on adding to that to build a squad capable of challenging for honours.”
