Crews prevent fire spreading to surrounding field

Oxfordshire Fire and rescue were called to a tractor fire in Tadmarton on Saturday morning.  The tractor was destroyed by the blaze but crews managed to prevent the fire spreading to the surrounding field.

Crews from Banbury and Chipping Norton were called to the farm field at 11.05am.   The farmer lost his tractor to the fire, but no one was injured.

The swift action by the crews in attendance stopped the blaze from spreading to the surrounding field.

Writing on social media Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue said: “As the weather gets hotter, we’d like to take this chance to remind everyone about how easily grass fires can start.

“Please make sure you correctly dispose of cigarettes and other rubbish which could burn, to help us reduce the risk of field fires.”
