Ambulance services form new South-East group
29/10/2025

The new agreement should improve care while offering better value for money
The ambulance service which covers our area is joining forces with a neighbouring service sharing both senior management and collaborating in a number of areas.
The new arrangement between South Central Ambulance Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service aims to provide patients across the South East with more consistent, high-quality ambulance care. It will be known as the South Central and South East Ambulance Group.
Both Trusts will continue to operate independently but will collaborate on key priorities such as digital innovation, clinical best practice, and workforce development.
The introduction of a shared leadership model will see a single Chief Executive and Chair supporting both Trusts.
David Eltringham, Chief Executive of South Central Ambulance Service, said: “This is about levelling up care for every patient in the South East. Demand on our services is rising, and this model gives us the ability to respond more consistently, use our resources more effectively, and make sure patients receive the same high standard of care wherever they live.”
The move is supported by NHS England (South East). Regional Director Anne Eden said: “The proposed move to a group model for our region’s two main ambulance service providers is a real opportunity to improve care and access for our patients, while offering better value for money.
“A shared leadership model will ensure both services are fit for the future as the NHS continues to transform to deliver now and in years to come.”
