Animals on motorway caused Sunday lunchtime delays

19/12/2021

Around 3.5 miles of congestion built before the animals were removed

Drivers have suffered delays on the northbound M40 this Sunday lunchtime due to animals on the carriageway.

Just before 1.30pm National Highways East issued a message to say two lanes were closed between the Cherwell Valley Services at Junction 10 and Banbury at Junction 11.

Around 3.5 miles of congestion built on the approach to the scene, which sensors showed as being close to the B4100 Adderbury to Aynho Road.

Around fifteen minutes later a message was issued to say the animals had been removed from the motorway.
