Anti-social behaviour leads to Section 35 dispersal order in Bicester
24/02/2022
Members of public have felt intimidated and distressed by large groups gathering
A Section 35 dispersal order has been put in place in Bicester. Thames Valley Police have taken the step following increased reports of anti-social behaviour within the town.
The order came into force at 4pm and lasts for 24 hours.
Section 35 dispersal power can be used by the police to deal with individuals aged 10 or over engaging in anti-social behaviour or crime and disorder, not only when they have occurred or are occurring, but when they are likely to occur in an area.
PC Matthew Whitney, a Neighbourhood Officer from the Problem Solving Team based at Bicester Police Station, said: “There have been ongoing reports of anti-social behaviour within Bicester by members of the public, who have felt intimidated and distressed by large groups gathering in particular places in the town.
“This is not something we want within our community – we want residents and visitors of all ages to feel safe within the town.”
