Applications now welcomed for primary school places next September

12/11/2025

The deadline is January 15 next year

The application window has opened for the parents and carers of children who will be starting primary education next September to apply for their chosen school.

Youngsters born between September 1, 2021 and August 31, 2022 are affected.

In Oxfordshire last year just under 95 percent of children were allocated their first preference primary school.

There are currently over 50,000 primary pupils in the county and over 230 primary schools.

Councillor Sean Gaul, Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, Education and Young People’s Services, said: “Our school admissions team will always do their very best to meet parental preference where possible.

“However, please do name four schools. This will not make it less likely that your first preference will be offered. However, it does reduce the risk of all preferences being unsuccessful and your child being allocated a place at a school that is not named on their list.

“I encourage you to please apply on time because late applications will be processed later in the year and are far less likely to secure places at preferred schools than applications received before the deadline.”

Applications can be submitted online ahead of the deadline of January 15 next year.
