Are you concerned about antisocial behaviour involving groups in Banbury?

The council is considering introducing additional powers to address the problem
A public consultation has been launched to gather our views on antisocial behaviour linked to groups in parts of Banbury.
Responses will help inform a proposed variation to the town’s existing Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO), which has been in place since April 2024. Cherwell District Council says the current PSPO has had a positive impact, but there are ongoing concerns about groups gathering and causing alarm and distress, with people expressing fears for their own safety.
No changes are proposed to the area currently covered by the existing order. This includes People’s Park, the Castle Quay shopping centre, Spiceball Sports Centre and the town centre as far south as Dashwood Road.
The consultation seeks to find out whether we have witnessed behaviour causing concern in the past 12 months and been personally affected. It also questions and whether the council should introduce additional powers, which could include temporarily removing groups from the area for up to 24 hours.
The council says public feedback is vital to ensuring any changes improve safety and the quality of life for everyone in Banbury.
The consultation is here.
