Armed police in Banbury following reports of men with weapons outside pub

A 21-year-old Banbury man has been arrested
Armed police officers attended an incident in Banbury on Saturday evening after they received reports of a group of men with weapons outside the Musketeer pub.
It was around 7.50pm when the first reports of the situation were received by Thames Valley Police.
Officers subsequently stopped a taxi on Horsefair following reports it had left the pub and contained weapons, although none were found.
Throughout today (Sunday) police patrols in Banbury have been increased.
In addition a 21-year-old Banbury man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and possessing an offensive weapon in public. He remains in police custody.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Anyone with concerns about what happened is welcome to speak to a uniformed officer to get in touch.
“We will not tolerate people carrying weapons in our patch so any offenders can expect to be brought to justice.”
