16/08/2021
Reports of a gun seen at Esso Service Station
Police were called to reports of a gun being seen at the Esso Garage in Bodicote yesterday evening.
A group of males were threatening staff at the service station. The staff were made aware that one of the group was in possession of a firearm.
A team from the Hampshire and Thames Valley Police Armed Response unit, together with local officers, were called to the scene.
Three males aged 14, 16 and 18 were arrested. They’re all from the Banbury area.
The weapon was recovered, but was confirmed not to be a viable firearm. Police warn that whilst the gun was not genuine it is still an offence to possess an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. This carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
An investigation into the incident continues.
