Police would like to speak to the good Samaritan who helped the victim after the attack
A good Samaritan stepped in and helped a woman after an attempted rape in Banbury on Saturday lunchtime. The attack took place in the Bridge Street Park.
It was between midday and 1pm when the offender attempted to rape the woman, who is in her thirties. After the offence the offender made off along Bridge Street into Middleton Road and then towards Waterloo Drive.
Thames Valley Police would like to speak to the man who stopped and helped the victim after the attack. They would also like to speak to three men who were sat on a bench in the park who may have witnessed what happened.
Following the incident a 28-year-old Banbury man was located with the assistant of a National Police Service helicopter. He remains in police custody.
Investigating officer, Detective Inspector Peter Scott said: “If you are the Good Samaritan, the men who were sat on the bench or anyone with any other information please contact Thames Valley Police.
“I want to reassure the local community that Thames Valley Police is conducting a thorough investigation into this attempted rape and has arrested on a man in connection with the offence.”
