Banbury buzzing as Christmas lights turned on
27/11/2022
Banbury United players and officials joined Mayor Jayne Strangwood on stage
Banbury was buzzing on Sunday afternoon as the town’s Christmas lights were officially switched on. The first sight of the festive illuminations came at the end of a busy weekend which has seen the town centre packed with visitors to the Victorian Christmas Market.
Team members and officials from Banbury United took centre stage alongside Town Mayor Jayne Strangwood for the switch-on, in celebration of the club’s hugely successful year, which included promotion to the National League North.
Manager Andy Whing joined the Mayor in pressing the button to switch on the Christmas lights after the traditional countdown by the large crowd.
A firework display then lit the skies above Castle Quay Shopping Centre.
The Christmas Lights will now shine every day until midnight on January 4th.
