Eleven dancers will be heading from Banbury to Burgos in Spain
Members of the Tee Lily Dance Company in Banbury will be flying the flag for their country as they head off to the Dance World Cup in Burgos in Spain this week.
Last November they qualified to represent Team England, performing 14 routines.
8,500 dancers from 51 countries will be competing.
Eleven-year-old Chloe is one of those hoping to bring back a medal for Team England. She has been telling her friends about the trip. “They think it’s pretty cool I’m representing Team England,” she said, “but obviously because my school friends don’t dance, they don’t really understand what I’m doing! I’ve been trying to explain to them as much as I can.
“I’m nervous for my dances, but I think once I have done them – and if they go well – then I’m going be really happy afterwards that I’ve done it.”
Eleven dancers, with their friends, family and teachers will be heading to Burgos from Banbury.
Tee Tily told us they will have an amazing experience. “We compete all over the UK and we get to see lots of UK dancers,” she said, “but when you actually arrive and see all the different countries, getting to watch different styles of dance and how countries and the whole dance changes as well, it’s an incredible thing to watch.
“When you arrive also there’s a big parade where all the countries come together and all the children will get to walk around, and get to know different dancers and different people from all across the world.”
