Kit Lamb’s impressive goalkeeping skills give a penalty shoot-out win to Banbury
Banbury Hockey Club have clinched England Hockey’s Tier 2 title.
They beat East Grinstead 2s at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre in London yesterday, in a match that was decided in a shoot-out after normal time finished with neither team scoring.
Both Banbury and East Grinstead had opportunities during the game but neither team were able to capitalise on these. Banbury came closest to snatching the win in the final moments, as they enjoyed four quickfire penalty corners. But these were denied by the East Grinstead defence.
In the shoot-out that followed it was Banbury who were victorious thanks to Kit Lamb’s impressive goalkeeping skills, which helped Banbury edge ahead with four of their shots put home against East Grinsted’s three.
