Banbury man reported as captured by Russian forces whilst fighting in Ukraine

The Russian News Agency Taas has reported on a closed-door hearing in Kursk’s Leninsky District Court
A man from Banbury is reported as having been captured by Russian forces whilst fighting for Ukraine.
A video on the Telegram platform shows a man dressed in military clothing being questioned. He identifies himself 22-year-old James Scott Rhys Anderson and says he previously served in the British Army.
The Russian News Agency Taas is reporting that in a closed-door hearing in Kursk’s Leninsky District Court ruled “British national James Scott Rhys Anderson, who took part in the Ukrainian army’s incursion in the Kursk Region, should be taken into custody”.
The BBC is reporting that Mr Anderson was identified in court on Monday as being a British citizen from Banbury.
The UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy was asked about the situation whilst in Italy on Monday. He told reporters: “I have been updated about that development in the last couple of days and of course we will do all we can to offer this UK national all the support we can.”
