Police have praised the victim and her family for their courage during the investigation
A Banbury man has been sent to prison for a sexual offence involving a child.
At Oxford Magistrates Court on August 18, 87-year-old Richard Willbond, of Miller Road, pleaded guilty to one count of assault of a girl under 13 by touching, under section 7 of the sexual offences act 2003.
Yesterday at Oxford Crown Court he was sentenced to two years and four months in prison.
Investigating officer, DC Lucy McDonagh, of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit, said: “As a specially trained detective in investigating the abuse of children, I remain grateful to the bravery of the victim and her family for the courage and support shown during this investigation.
“A predatory sexual offender has now been sent to prison”.
