Market organisers have pulled the plug as strong winds are forecast in North Oxfordshire

The threat of strong winds through the night and into Saturday has forced the organisers of Banbury Market to pull the plug on tomorrow’s market (November 27).   Forecasters are predicting gusts of up to 40 miles per hour and some snow.

A statement says: “Unfortunately we have taken the decision to cancel tomorrows market due to the high winds being brought in by storm ‘Arwen’. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause.”

A yellow weather warning is in place for strong winds across the Banbury FM area from midnight tonight until 6pm on Saturday. Another yellow warning suggests snow is likely through the morning.

The statement from the the Market organisers looks forward to a return next Thursday: “We should be back for an exciting week next week with our Charter Market on Thursday 2nd, Farmers Market on Friday 3rd and some special guests planned to visit the market on Saturday 4th December so watch this space!”
