Banbury Remembers

11/11/2024

The town fell silent at 11am

Hundreds of people lined the streets on Sunday as Banbury remembered those who made the ultimate sacrifice during two world wars and other conflicts.

Crowds watched a 300-strong military and civilian parade march from Broad Street up High Street to Horse Fair and St Mary’s Church as part of the town’s Remembrance Day.

The Banbury 1460 Air Training Corps Band led the procession of current service personnel, cadets, veterans, local organisations, and civic dignitaries.

St Mary’s and Church was packed with people inside and those listening outside falling silent at 11am after buglers sounded the Last Post.

After the service, in People’s Park, the traditional wreath-laying ceremony took place at the War Memorial.
