25/04/2022
The successes of Banbury’s community champion and hard-working students were marked during the evening
Over 250 people from Banbury’s Indian Malayalee Community gathered for a celebratory evening at the North Oxford Academy on Saturday. The event marked Easter, Vishu and Ramadan.
During the evening Indian families who have recently arrived in Banbury were welcomed and the efforts of youngsters who achieved good GCSE results were rewarded. There was also an opportunity for a number of performances by the community’s younger members.
Local community champion Prabhu Natarajan was honoured for his community work.
The event was organised by the Indian Malayalee Association, which has grown from five families when it was founded back in 2005 to around 120 today. The association provides support socially, morally and culturally through its events and activities.
The association’s president Sajimon Sethu said of the evening: “It was very amusing and everyone enjoyed it – really enjoyed it.”
