The fire took hold late on Monday morning

A fire in the roof of a home in Mollington is thought to have been caused by an electrical fault.   Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue were called to the property at around midday yesterday (Monday).

When the first crews from Banbury, Deddington and Rewley Road arrived at the scene the fire had taken hold in the roof of a single storey extension.   There was a danger that it would spread to the rest of the house.

Fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building and used high pressure hose reels to bring the blaze under control.

Live solar panels on the property initially slowed fire investigations, but a local electrician helped the crews by making them safe.  Its thought the blaze was caused by an electrical fault in the roof space.

Fortunately nobody was hurt.

Incident Commander Jon Walker said: “We had to act fast, and the rapid intervention by the crew meant we prevented the fire spreading to the two-storey section of the property.

“We cannot stress enough the importance of having working smoke alarms in your property, please make sure you take the time to test yours”.
