Boy assaulted and threatened with firearm in Banbury park

A 17-year-old male has been arrested with a description issued for a second male

A boy in his late teens has been assaulted and threatened with a firearm in Banbury’s Princess Diana Park.

It happened at around 7.30pm on Tuesday last week (February 10).

The victim was walking in the park when he was assaulted by a male and then threatened with the firearm by a second.   He didn’t sustain any injuries. 

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward.   They have arrested a 17-year-old Banbury boy on suspicion of assault without injury.   He’s been released on bail until May 1, 2026.

A description has been released for the second offender – a white boy aged in his mid-teens with short blonde hair.   He was wearing a black tracksuit, a black cross body bag and a black balaclava at the time of the offence.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Shahed Ali, said: “An investigation is ongoing following this assault and I ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information to please come forward.

“We are also appealing to the male and three females who were present and witnessed the assault as we believe they may have information to assist with our investigation.

“If you were driving around the Princess Diana Park area during this time and may have dash cam footage or CCTV, please contact us. If you live locally and have video doorbell or CCTV footage, please come forward.
