Brackley Leisure Centre to get decarbonisation upgrades
24/03/2023
West Northamptonshire Council secured funding for upgrades at four of its leisure centres
Brackley Leisure Centre is set to benefit from a number of upgrades which will reduce the centre’s carbon footprint.
A pot of money from the government’s decarbonisation scheme will be used to decommission the existing end-of-life gas boiler, replacing it with air source heat pumps or another low carbon heating solution.
Work will also be undertaken to increase solar electricity generation capacity at the leisure centre.
West Northamptonshire Council owns Brackley Leisure Centre. They successfully secured £7 million for the work, which also covers three other leisure centres in the council’s area.
Cllr Jonathan Nunn, Leader of West Northamptonshire Council said: “This work will contribute towards our wider strategy to reduce carbon emissions, and achieve Net Zero across West Northamptonshire, improving our environment for our communities.”
West Northamptonshire Council has committed to achieve Net Zero on all council operations by 2030.
