Brackley – you shall go to the Fair!
This year’s annual charter fair three weeks ago was closed just a few hours after opening when the passing of Her Late Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II was announced. As a mark of respect, fair organisers the Wilson family decided to cancel the remaining days.
Now those who missed the opportunity to enjoy the fun and excitement will get another chance as the rides and attractions will return for two days next week.
The original run of the fair got underway on Thursday September 8, with Brackley Town Mayor, Councillor Paul Wiltshire and Councillor Elaine Wiltshire performing the opening ceremony at 5.30pm. News of Her Late Majesty’s passing was announced an hour later.
The new arrangement will see a special Brackley Charter Fair running on Friday and Saturday next week (October 7 and 8). Whilst it will be a slightly smaller fair than the one set up three weeks ago it will still include a range of rides for all ages, games stalls and food outlets.
The fair will be up and running from 5pm on the Friday and 1.30pm on Saturday in Brackley High Street, just outside the Town Hall.
Brackley Town Council has expressed thanks to Wilson’s Amusements who have donated what is described as “an extremely generous amount of money” towards the Mayor’s charities.
Two weeks after Brackley’s fair thrill seekers in Banbury will also be able to enjoy themselves with the return of Banbury Fair for 2022, from October 19 to 21.
