Alfresco performances will take place each Saturday

Talented people from Brackley will get to step into the spotlight throughout August with the return of Brackley’s Got Talent.

Each Saturday afternoon from 2pm, singers, dancers and performers will be given an opportunity to demonstrate what they can do, appearing in a showcase on the Piazza outside Brackley Town Hall.

Brackley’s Got Talent originally ran back in the early noughties, but ended in 2011.

Now its felt the time is right to bring back the show, but this time running it as a showcase rather than a competition.

Brackley Town Councillor Bernie Tiller has put the show together.   The alfresco performance idea is based on an idea he saw during a motorbike trip around Holland.   He came across a little town like Brackley and townsfolk had gathered for entertainment put on by the local pub and cafes in front of the town hall.

Bernie said: “The atmosphere was wonderful and the people were so friendly.   Ever since then I wanted to do the same for Brackley.   The chance came when our Town Manager was talking about trying to encourage people into the town.”

Whilst there is some seating around the Piazza people are advised to take along their own chairs or picnic blankets to enjoy the free entertainment.

Bernie will compere the afternoon.   He said: “Brackley is not short of talent – it always has been full of up and coming artists of all sorts.   We’ve got Brackley players involved and we’ve got dancers – it’s not just musicians and singers, it’s a little bit of everything.”

Brackley’s Got Talent will run for each of the five Saturdays in August.

On the bill for the first show Bernie said: “I was in a music shop and I bumped into this lovely lady and it turned out she was a local Brackley person and she’s a brilliant musician- keyboard player and singer, called Kelly Israel – she goes under the name of Melody Woman and is coming along to sing.

“We’ve got the Accent Drummers, who will invite people to come and join them and learn how to play the drums towards the end of their performance.   Then we’ve got Chloe and Sarah who will sing.   It’s going to be quite a nice day.”

Brackley Players will also be appearing.
